Local Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty cars have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Cars, building surfaces and postal boxes were defaced, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Police state they were alerted late on Wednesday evening, when a individual noticed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish substance.
The liquid had been placed in the form of a banned symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then located multiple other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials report preliminary tests indicate the substance was probably human blood.
"There is still no clue as to its origin; investigators are currently not aware of any physical harm in association with the event," they commented.
Local authorities announced they were attempting "to solve the incident" and have appealed to the residents for details.
A senior political figure commented the incident left him stunned and needed to be addressed quickly.
"This act hits the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the extremist violent incident half a decade ago," he posted on social media, referring to the killing of nine people by a shooter targeting individuals of foreign heritage in five years prior.
